I warned all errant readers that it would be very infrequently that this was updated. But here is some picture goodness for the masses. :)

So, we've continued to hijack mom's time, so she doesn't update the blog, but we gave her a few minutes today since we turned 4 months old!

But we're having fun and learning all sorts of new things. We have lots of smiles for mom and dad. And we've both rolled over on our own! Crawling can't be far behind.

Hello! Hello!

We wanted to let you know that mom hasn't been updating her blog because we keep her really busy. Imagine that.

We turned 3 months old this week. This means that we are spending a lot of time taking in the world. It also means that we've figured out that we really like it when mom holds us and, as mom has told us, it is really hard to type without any hands. We're also really enjoying the baby gym that Great-grandparents Ziegler got us for Christmas. We sit and stare at it for 15 whole minutes sometimes. We're also getting much better at holding our heads up, so we spend some time sitting up propped on pillows or on our tummies looking around.

We might try to let mom update the blog a bit more often as we can sort of occupy ourselves now, but no promises. We really like mom (and dad!), and prefer when they look at us as opposed to a screen.

The boys had their first round of immunizations yesterday and they did great. Not much fun as a parent--the whole empathy thing--but no fever and they were in a great mood this morning. And despite having some pretty particular opinions on the whole immunization thing, I'll refrain from that here. I'll just say that in the 21st century in the US (for now) we have the luxury of not worrying about our babies and children dying from polio, smallpox, measles, mumps, and rubella (among other things). This luxury is thanks to large-scale immunization programs.

The other good news is that they are both over 12lbs. Big, healthy babies!

I'm also being a grad student again as the boys are spending 4 or 5 hours a day with a nanny. It is so comforting to know they are well-cared for; I can then focus only on being a grad student for those 4-5 hours. It also means I focus on being a mom when they're at home with me. Compartmentalization works really well for things like this. I also hope it means I'll be a more productive grad student.

While I'd fully intended to write up a bit about the holidays, as soon as my folks left town we got sick. Jack & David have been fighting off RSV infections since Monday. Between the breathing treatments and snot sucking, there's not much time for anything else. But we're all on the mend (my cold feels better too).

The good news is that when they got weighed on Monday, David is at 11 lbs, 8 oz. Jack is at 11 lbs, 4 oz. Both are essentially 22 inches long. So I think we're okay on the growing thing. :)

Hopefully the weekend will have everyone getting significantly better and life will get back on an even keel.

Merry Christmas!

Six weeks old today... Hard to believe.

From Babies

The boys last week with Great Grandma.

Some things change:
1. Only getting up once a night to eat, which means dad and I get two 3-hour chunks of sleep a night. Heaven.
2. We put the bed on the floor and are just having them stick with us in bed. Makes everything easier at 2:30am when they decide to eat. Worked well last night, though I would have liked a heavier blanket as it is, of course, the coldest night we've yet had. But this won't last long and babies are like little heaters.
3. The boys fit in 3-month outfits. They look big, like the newborn stuff looked when they first came home, but the clothes are not as big as they looked a few weeks ago.
4. Their vocal cords are developing. They coo regularly, and cries are really starting to sound different. So nice because the newborn cry/scream is just really hard to listen to for any period of time (evolutionarily necessary, I'm sure, but still).

Merry Christmas and all that, as I'm sure I won't post before then.
